Deep Into The Night

By the twinkle of the moon,

The dark of an inky blue night,

The birds will go to sleep soon,

By the sparkle of the stars so bright;

The fox cubs have played all evening and are tired,

The owls have the quiet night they desire,

A rat has found a home, in a worn out tyre,

The oldest rabbit of the woods, has decided to retire;

The woodland settles down, and rests,

The pond has ripples and little splashes,

The grassland trees are filled with nests;

Around the landscape, the squirrel dashes,

The lake is large but empty tonight,

The frogs are on land, and the herons took flight,

The fish have swarmed for safety, into their homes,

Though the pike still absentmindedly roams;

The nature lies down and sleeps,

Though the bunnies run,

Whilst the hunting foxes creep;

By the twinkle of the moon,

The dark of an inky blue night,

The birds have gone to sleep so soon,

By the sparkle of the stars so bright!
