Before

The standing ovation of the crowd,

The smiles the waves, of the players, the bows,

The merriment, the joy,

of each girl and each boy,

The ball safe in the goal, it’s a score,

Not a soul can find this game a bore!

The fun!

The crying!

Oh laughter! Oh joy!

The opposite team’s coach annoyed..

People standing, waving patriotic signs!

Support England! Win, o hopeful allies!

Cheers and waves and red and white,

Blue, Italy is defending with a might!

As the match draws to a close, what a night!

Who will win?

After

Teary but spirited the English retreat,

The pubs full, smoke protruding out on streets;

The Italians take the win, hastily but deserved,

The away match, the penalties, the scoring and the

serves,

Waving a flag of merely green, white and red,

It’s nearly midnight, tired spectators hurry into

bed;

What a night it has been for for the English and Italian

teams!

This concludes Euro 2020,

Don’t worry England, next year, chance’ll be

aplenty!
